The word integrity has the word grit inside and grit is needed to hold fast and true to the dictates of our integrity.

Adhering to an established set of ethics and sound moral principles at all times.
- Ethics dictionary

I’m not perfect and neither are you, we are gloriously flawed and messy, this is true. We are after all, only human. We cut corners and slack off, we cut in line and tell white lies. But we have to be more mindful of the sleights. The future of the world might depend on each one of us rising up and being better. It might.

We all like a good story where an individual sticks to their principles, against all odds, and saves something — the day, a boy, a life. Sometimes it is in vain and they don’t save anything. The grand ancient tree wider than a bulldozer still gets cut down. The last frog of the species still goes extinct. The lost girl is never found despite hours of searching the foggy moor. Sometimes the valiant die on their swords throwing themselves in front of the truck to save the dog. Perhaps one of the tests of integrity is — would you give your life for a cause? Many who fought in wars believed the fight was noble. We celebrate fallen soldiers.

Wisely or wrongly integrity plays a large part in how we play our part. How we turn up…
